Cincinnati Museum Center has played a large role in my development as a person. I have physically and emotionally grown up in this building. I have every intention of growing a little bit every time I enter the building, whether it is learning a new fact or meeting a new person. The possibilities are truly endless.
As a child I would go to CMC Union Terminal with a close friend and her mother. One day when we were 12 years old we earned the trust to wander the Natural History & Science Museum all on our own. We explored sneakily, thinking every person who approached us was going to somehow get us in trouble for being there without a chaperone. No one ever yelled at us or gave us a funny look (even though we went through the advanced trails dozens of times in a single day).
During my adolescent years I found myself dating a young man named Joe. He suggested going on dates to see the new special exhibit or the new OMNIMAX film, he knew the types of dates I enjoyed so I decided he was husband material. We've been together for 7 years, and have been married for almost 1 year. We still enjoy the traveling exhibits, new OMNIMAX films, and of course the reciprocity policy for members (We've gone to museums in Hawaii, Chicago, New York, Florida, etc for free!).
When searching for jobs I looked at places I enjoyed being a visitor at. Cincinnati Museum Center was one of the first establishments that I searched and alas they were hiring Children's Program Presenters to work birthdays. I applied, interviewed, got hired, and worked many amazing birthday parties. I then applied to work Overnights at CMC as well. One opportunity turned into another and now I manage Birthdays, Day Camps, and Overnights!
My co-workers are my best friends. My staff is reliable and trusted to entertain and educate with every presentation. I love Cincinnati Museum Center and I love my job. Consistently there is a new opportunity to flourish as an individual. Dance on Dance Party Friday to promote Dinos Unearthed? Why not? Absorb the amazingness of various cultures highlighted in our Culture Fests? Of course! Hear astronaut Gregory H. Johnson speak on space breakthroughs? YOU BET!
Cincinnati Museum Center, the possibilities are truly endless.
