My memories go back to when I was a child in the 50's and 60's. Each year we would go to Union Station to catch a train for Chattanooga. My Uncle and cousins lived there and it was nice to see them and spend time with them. I remember my Mom taking me to a coffee shop at the station and I would get Hot Chocolate and toast before boarding the train. That was a treat in those days. LOL. I remember in the late 50's we took a trip on a train to Chattannoga, but wasn't allowed to come home on the train. I had come down with the mumps and they would not let me on the train for home. My mother had to leave me with my Uncle, she had to get home and get back to work. So I stayed in Chattanooga until I recovered. I came home alone on the train and was happy to see the Union Terminal.
